Album Sales Charts - Week Ending 6/27

I don't think there was much of a doubt who would top this week's charts and now that the final numbers are in, everyone was right. Eminem, and his new "Recovery" album, take the number 1 (and passing his first week sales for his "Relapse" album from last year, top spot with the 2nd place artist, some guy that goes by the name Drake, close to six-hundred thousand copies away. When they aren't doing their day-to-day job as Jimmy Fallon's house band, The Roots put out their new "How I Got Over" album and managed to debut at number 6 with just under 50 thousand copies sold

With rumors of Fergie leaving the group (although Will.I.Am says they are a lie), The Black Eyed Peas only drop two spots pushing yet another 16,444 copies while B.o.B continues to do well well as his "Adventure" scans close to 15,000 copies.

On the R&B tip, Usher continues to rule the charges as his "Raymond vs Raymond" album only drops one spot to 14th pushing close to 24,5000 copies plus Alicia Keys actually gains one spot to 33rd by selling close to 12,000 more albums.

50 Cent On Beamer, Benz or Bentley Remix

It looks like Lloyd Banks snagged his G-Unit leader 50 Cent to be on a remix of his "Beamer, Benz or Bentley" remix. Previously Lloyd Banks said he would be doing regional remixes for the song and 50 Cent will be on the New York version. "I've got so much love and a good response on this record that it's actually going to have to be more than one remix because it goes by markets," Banks told VIBE, careful not to drop names. "You got Down South, you got the West coast, you got the East coast. Different regions take different records. I thought the Maino version was cool, I like the Joe Budden verse. Fab is cool too and there's so many more, but those are the ones that stick out to me. They're playing that Joell Ortiz version a lot in NY, too. I still think mine is the tightest, but hey [laughs]."

Beanie Sigel Says He Will Smack Drake

Beanie Sigel recently called out new rapper Drake saying he would smack him. "I know all that f*ggot sh*t you poppin' and the little slurs on Drake and them's records and I'ma tell y'all little motherf*ckers something, y'all keep letting that n*gga get on records and pop sh*t. I'ma start coming at cha'll little n*ggas. I'll smack the sh*t outta Drake b*tch a**. All y'all n*ggas, f*ck all y'all. This is Broad Street Bully, B. Sig, I have no problem seeing anybody on site."

Drake wasn't Beanie Sigel's only target, as he also went off on Jadakiss. "Only thing I regret about that Roc-A-Fella sh*t was going at my n*gga Kiss," Beans said in an interview referencing his 2001 beef with Jadakiss. "I did that sh*t for you n*gga 'cause you were scared. You knew Kiss would have bit that a**. I should pull off my belt and whip that a**. You better watch who you worship, man."

Drake Sued Over Best I Ever Had!!

Drake, along with Cash Money Records and Universal Music, are being sued for copyright infringement over use of a sample on his "Best I Ever Had" single. Playboy Music claims that Drake's song samples their "Fallin In Love" song by Hamilton, Joe Frank and Dennison/Reynolds stating that the "infringing conduct is continuing and ongoing." They want Drake, and everyone else, to stop selling and distributing the song. What do you think? Listen to both below.

Beyonce & Her Dad No Longer Speaking?

The superstar singer was horrified when it was alleged last year that Matthew had an 18-month affair with 38-year-old Alexsandra Wright and DNA tests confirmed he'd fathered her son, Nixon, while still married to Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles.

Now, sources tell Page Six that relations between Beyoncé, who is very close to her mom, and her father have reached such a low point that executives at her label, Columbia, are worried.

But one music industry insider said, "Beyoncé was horrified to find out her dad cheated on her mom. She always looked up to him, and she is very close to her mom, so this has hit her really hard. She is refusing to speak to him, which is making things difficult where it comes to managing her career. Some people at Columbia now think it would be better to move him aside."

Is Diddy Confirming He's Bangin' Cassie?

Behind the scenes
of Ricky's "B.M.F." video, Diddy
was goofing around and started rapping one of his songs. While he is rapping, he kept grabbing a lurking Cassie to bring her on the camera.

And at the 2:33 mark, Diddy said "Now My Girlfriend Is Blonde Like Marilyn", and grabbed Cassie's blonde hair to show the camera. Chick lit up like a Christmas tree.

So, is he finally coming out to confirm they're dating?

Will I Am Robbed For Over $10,000

According to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, the Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am was robbed earlier this week in California. According to multiple reports, someone broke into his Bentley and took over $10,000 worth of jewelry and personal items on Monday (June 21st) night. There is some good news... TMZ.com says that some of the items have already been recovered and the cops are "on the trail of the bad guys."

In related news, Will.I.Am recently said that R&B artist, and now ex-wife of rapper Nas, Kelis is the best kept secret in the music industry. "Kelis has always been a best kept secret," Will said. "The cool people know Kelis. But the majority of people just know 'Milkshake.'...I would like Kelis to show she's an international sensation. She can be big. A lot of people think big is being on the radio or that being big is having a show in London, France and sometimes Japan. But that ain't international...that's just three countries. The Black Eyed Peas are big; the Black Eyed Peas are international. I think Kelis can be that big. As big as the Peas. A lot of time rappers have these labels and they don't let their artist become bigger than them. I've proven that's not me. Fergie is huge. When Fergie blew up she was bigger than me! I believe Kelis can do the same."

Real Rick Ross Continues Rick Ross Fight

The real Rick Ross, former drug king Freeway Ricky Ross, officially filed a trademark infringement lawsuit againt not only the Triple C's leader rapper Rick Ross, but also Jay-Z. The paperwork filed shows that he is trying to block the release of the upcoming "Teflon Don" album, adding Jay-Z to the suit since he signed Rick Ross to Def Jam records. Both artists will be called to testify in the process in which he is trying to get a temporary restraining order.

Last month, the real life Ricky Ross said he would try to do this in a legal manner. "I just want my name back," Rick told XXL. "I don't want to have to be 'the real Rick Ross.' When I go places I have to explain to people that I am the real one because Def Jam has put him on TV and now people recognize him. It causes a conflict." Although he hasn't made up his mind about whether he wants complete rights over the use of the name or just damages, he maintains that the suit is not personal. "It ain't even really against William Roberts you know what I'm saying?" Ross added. "It's really against Def Jam because they making all this money off of my name and you know those guys didn't even reach out and said hello to me since I been home."

Game Wants A Truce With 50 Cent

Former G-Unit member, Game recently spoke about his relationship with 50 Cent, their past beef, adding he would be willing to fix issues with his former boss. Game says a possible truce would be possible in the future between him, 5th and G-Unit. "I think that in life anything can be mended. Right now, I haven't talked to 50. I don't talk to him but um, I'm not saying that that can't happen in the future or that it will or won't. But I think he's fine doing him and I'm fine doing me. And if the stars ever aligned and if that day comes where we can have a conversation and then chop it up and we can come to some type of happy medium, you know, I'm wit' it. But as of now, I guess he's doing him and I'm doing me."

Kanye West, Suge Knight Meet To Discuss Lawsuit

instead of aiming jabs at each other on a record, two hip-hop stars are taking a more gentlemanly route to resolving beef. Kanye West and Marion "Suge" Knight met on Friday to discuss issues surrounding the 2005 party hosted by West during which Knight was shot in the leg. Knight also claims that a fellow partygoer stole his diamond earring during the melee.

The Death Row honcho filed a lawsuit against West in 2008 pegging partial responsibility for the shooting and jewelry loss on the outspoken Grammy-winning superstar. The suit has a December 6 court date, but the two hip-hop stars decided to meet in person to hash out the matter.

The Associated Press reports that West and Knight engaged in a closed-door meeting in Manhattan that lasted for six hours but, according to Knight, yielded few results. "I'm disappointed," Knight said. "I figured I could sit him down, man to man, and get this resolved." At press time, a rep for West had not responded to MTV News' request for comment.

Knight was shot at the 2005 bash, hosted by West at Miami Beach's Shore Club, which preceded the MTV Video Music Awards. The bullet shattered a bone in the mogul's right leg, an injury which required surgery and months of physical therapy. Knight racked up more than $200,000 in medical expenses, and the label head is seeking more than $1 million in damages in the lawsuit. Despite a bunch of celebrity attendees, including Jessica Alba and the Black Eyed Peas, only a few witnesses have come forward and the crime remains unsolved.

According to court papers, Knight places responsibility on West for allowing someone to get a firearm through security. Knight's lawyers also said that people known to be beefing with the Death Row boss attended the bash.

Knight insists he wants to resolve the situation amicably. "My whole thing is: I'm not here to put nobody behind bars," Knight said. "It's time for more positive now."

Nicki Minaj Denies She's Dating Diddy

Young Money's new first lady, Nicki Minaj, recently denied rumors that she is dating Bad Boy Records CEO, Sean "Diddy" Combs. When asked about the rumors of dating Diddy, Minaj spoke on wanting to last in the hip hop game. "I am still hungry though, I guess I'm not hungry in a monetary way," Minaj told radio personality DJ Envy. "But I'm hungry like, I want to know what it feels like to be able to have 10 albums under my belt, and I think when you're a perfectionist, when you're an artist, you want to be great at your craft and right now, that's where I am. I feel like, you know what, yes, I am a new artist, I still have to put out an album, I still have to prove myself. I still have to prove myself to me...[Dating Diddy?] That is, wait, can I just say, I hold everybody's hands! I hold my bodyguard's hands! Noooo [I'm not dating Diddy!] Listen, sometimes I think they know these things are false. But when people ask me, I think, 'I didn't even know I was gonna have to even address that.' -- when I'm ready [to announce new management], you'll know."

T.I. Wants To Be Will Smith Not Jay-Z

Following up his pre-prison-time interview he did with rapper T.I. back in 2009, CNN's TJ Holmes sits down with TIP to talk about how his life has changed since getting out and what plans he has for the future. T.I. says that he would rather end up being like actor Will Smith than he would rapper Jay-Z saying "I’m not going to be the 40 year-old rapper."

Drama Says Rick Ross Is Leading Everyone

DJ Drama recently talked about Rick Ross and his lyrical growth slash dominance, saying the Triple C's leader is currently in a class of his own. Talking about his new "BMF (Blowin Money Fast)" single, Drama said "The reaction in the clubs is tough!" He continued "And it caught on fast. [The record] has a strong beat. ... He touched on topics the streets adore and respect: self-made bosses. ... Ross, lyrically, is by himself right now."

Fellow DJ, DJ Scream, agree's with Drama saying that "BMF" is a street-respected hit track. "It shuts the club down! Biggest street record this year thus far. It's street music. It seems like a lot of artists have strayed away from or are scared to make raw and uncut street music. The people still want that type of music, though. Ross delivered. The people reacted. 'Nuff said."

Wacka Flocka Explains The Dumbed-Down "Music" Of Today

Ever wondered why most music these days just sounds like random non-words and sounds thrown together and put over a beat? Well...you're not alone. Many folks, including myself, are baffled over this dumbed-down music takeover. But here's the possible answer. Wacka Flocka Flame...the latest culprit in creating foolish ass (but annoyingly catchy) songs...explains why he goes this route, as opposed to really rapping.
Wacka Flocka Flame was interviewed by The Source TV. He talks about how he feels about his music and he addresses the criticism about it. He says that he is a party starter, just like the style of Kid ‘n’ Play. Also, his definition of success is selling records to gold status (500,000). He believes in staying in his own lane by making his own way in the music industry, because he knows he will get bodied in the real rap lane:

* “I’m like ‘Kid ‘n’ Play’. I come to get your party started. I don’t come to make you laugh. That’s what the rappers
are for. I’m a party starter. That’s it! If the party is dead, I’m going to come hype it up and then leave.”

* “I stay natural. I’m a mood record. Whatever mood I’m in then that’s what I rap about.”

* “I literally have too much sh** to do. Seriously! I got a CEO who’s locked up (interview onviously done before Gucci was released), I got a label to hold down. I got bills, brothers, families, friends that need me.”

* “You can look lame as hell because when you flex like you can rap, they are going to put your ass on the spot. Radio stations or anywhere. Any freestyle you do. You are going to be looking lame. When you know I don’t have any lyrics, you ain’t even going to ask me for no freestyle. It is what it is! Who didn’t grow up listening to punch lines? C’mon now! Why would I knock you.”

50 Cent & Flloyd Talk Music & Fake Rappers

First 50 Cent said that dance music inspired some of his upcoming "Black Magic" album but now that he's home from touring, 5th says the album is going a whole other way. "I started working on it," 50 said last week in Los Angeles. "I been working on writing to a concept for Black Magic. ... I recorded 19 songs. Then when I got back to the U.S., I started writing to a different concept. I spoke to Em. He called me when I was starting in Detroit."
Boxer Flloyd Mayweather was there and says he has an album coming as well. "We're doing a compilation album," Money Mayweather said. "We'll probably launch it in the heat of the next bout," Fif said. "It'll probably be the biggest fight in the history of the sport." 50 Cent continued "It'll just make room for you to impact when [the hardcore] comes back," 50 assessed. "No one told the world to enjoy that [softer] music temporarily. I think a big portion of why people didn't want to hear the aggressive content is because the people conveying them were lying." "You got rappers in today's time, they get a small advance from their record label, get a bunch of tattoos, a few piercings on their face, go to jail for 10 or 20 days, [then] they killers," Mayweather weighed in. "Next time out, they rock stars. I think rap is crazy, but it's still very creative."

Drake Projected To Sell 475k First Week

Many people have weighed in on how much Drake would actually sell of his debut "Thank Me Later" album, now it seems we have some actual figures. According to BillBoard and one-day sales numbers, it looks like Drake will sell around 425,000-475,000 copies in its first week, ending June 20th. If the numbers hold to be true, it will mark one of the biggest sales weeks of the year for a single album.
Previously, T.I. talked about first-week sales and when asked what he think's Drake's debut "Thank Me Later" album will do, TIP said over 500 thousand. "I'm confident in my man," T.I. said about Drake's first-week. "I think if 500 [thousand] was the over, under, I would take the over. Given his potential and his presence, I would. I think that's safe, that's a safe bet. He hasn't put out a dud yet. He hasn't put out a dud, not even as a feature, so I think that warrants about a half [a million]."

Cease Says Nicki Did Pay Homage To Lil Kim

Lil Cease has become the latest rapper to weigh in on the Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim thing. "All of us had an influence in the game," Cease said. "We all came up listening to somebody, so it's not bad to say it." He continued "When I heard about that, I didn't have no real reaction to it, at the end of the day, it's a real competitive sport in hip-hop. Kim is one of them people. No matter how you look at her, as an icon or whatever, she's definitely [an icon]. But she's also an MC. She feels like she still maintains that [top] spot. She still feels like she holds that spot. You can't knock her for that. But the paying homage thing, when I seen Nicki Minaj with the green hair, when I seen her do similar pictures that Kim has done — I look at that as paying homage. I saw other things where Nicki did pay homage; she said some [complimentary] things about Lil' Kim."

He finished up. "But we don't know what's going on," Cease added. "We don't read between the lines like MCs do. Kim probably sees or hears things none of us probably sees or hears. She's just making her judgment from what she's seeing. We can't knock her for that. At the end of the day, Nicki is Nicki. She's building her own lane. She's doing what she's gotta do. She's hot, she's sexy. I'm sure she's got some things from Kim, but [Nicki's] setting her own lane ... But Kim's got a right to her opinion, she's got a right to say how she feel. I'm used to Kim being that way. She's very aggressive. If she feels like she ain't getting the proper respect, she's gonna speak her mind."

LIL KIM SIGNS TO JAY Z'S ROC NATION

Brooklyn’s female rapper and actress Lil Kim has officially signed a record deal with Jay-Z label Roc Nation. This rumor has been floating around for a while, but earlier today, industry insiders confirmed this rumor. Also at the end of a video after talking about Nicki Minaj she throws up “the Roc” sign and says “We Roc’n out…R-O-C-love baby A major announcement should be made soon. As of press, no word on
when Kim’s new album will be dropping. The big homie Jay-Z is expected

Jadakiss Says Lil Kims Beef Is Corny

Jadakiss has become the latest artist to weigh in on the whole Lil Kim vs Nicki Minaj beef, calling it plain corney. Jadakiss says that Lil Kim took way to long to come at Nicki Minaj. "I think it's kinda corny," Jada told radio personality Jenny Boom Boom. "I can't knock Kim for saying whatever she wants to say about Nicki but you could have been said it. That's the only thing I feel. Don't wait until she gets scorching hot to try to go at her. She's been copying her since she came in with the big crotch photos shoots so if you want to just say something, you had to [say something] when she came out. It looks kinda corny like she's trying to get a little, you know what I mean, looks like she's trying to reap some benefits. She's the Queen Bee, that's hands down, I think she's just paying homage, if you follow Nicki, she's got a little Kim in her, she's got a little bit of everybody...I can't really knock her for that. When you're in this game and heating up, they want to see you go at somebody before you even get your real stripes, you gotta have your nice little battle or something significant and even y'all get involved, the media, the TV networks, to see what the outcome is so...she writes her own rhymes and she's nice, so you know, let's see what happens..."

Weezy Wants Drake To Out Sell Him

Although he's still locked up and serving time at Rikers Island, that doesn't stop Lil Wayne from being a boss and talking about the upcoming albums from his Young Money artists. Jay-Z On The Music Industry

Continuing our preview of the upcoming new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, which Jay-Z covers, the former president of Def Jam Records is asked to give his thoughts on the industry. "When you look at what’s happening, the record business is purging itself,” Jay continues. “Def Jam released 57 albums one year. Are there 57 good artists in the world, let alone on one label? If you have 57 artists and four of them break, that’s bad business. What a terrible model. I told them, ‘How about this idea — instead of spending $300 million to break four acts, why don’t you guys give me a credit line, and I’ll just do things. I won’t make music. I’ll go buy some headphones, or buy a clothing line, just be part of the culture.’ But the money scared them off, because they’re not used to thinking in that way."

The LOX Work On New Solo & Group Albums

Styles P recently updated everyone on the status of the LOX upcoming group album, adding that the members are also working on their solo projects at the same time. "We working on the LOX right now and all the solos at once -- Sheek solo, my solo, 'Kiss solo, mixtapes. That's our plan for the summer right now," he said. "Since we all in the lab, we going in. Now that we all there at the same time, it brings better energy and better thoughts. Even while I'm working on my solo, I like that input: 'All right, P, go here with it' or 'go there with it.' 'You should do that kinda song.' I was in a Louch session the other day, and somebody was there for beats for him; he got two beats for me. It wasn't nothing there for him in the beat session, but he heard two beats he knew I would like and go in on. It makes for a better energy and better fit. We just working and making our legacy grow. LOX forever."

Lil Kim Talks Nicki Minaj Not Paying Homage

Along with associate Keys, Lil Kim recently talked about Nicki Minaj not paying homage to her and other artists who came before her. "If you are going to completely mimic somebodys style, you could at least be like 'I fuck with her... I followed her.'" Keys says before Lil Kim jumps in to say "Im a real bitch, I love fucking with my ladies, I love the unity... At the end of the day, it's just about respect. When you come in the game just pay homage to those who paved the way for you."

Promising there will be more coming because Lil Kim says "I have a lot of shit to say, I have a story to tell.. stay tuned, this is a movie right here.. I'm going to let you know what's going on."

50 Says You Cant Compare Him To Drake

50 Cent recently said he can't be compared to other artists like Drake because he's held to a different standard, as he isn't allowed to make R&B type songs. "I guess he's cool," 50 said in an interview. "He has momentum with his music, but the things that he's able to do are things that I'm not permitted to do 'cause of the perception of me. The aggression in my music is translated the strongest and they expect that from me every time. It kinda works for me and works against me at different points. [Drake's] a great singer also; we like the part when he starts to sing on the chorus. He just put out a whole R&B song ["Find Your Love"]--like there's no rap on it, it's just an R&B record. That is what Kanye West was permitted to do with 808s & Heartbreak, to make a complete love song or an R&B record. I won't be permitted to do that because they expect me to kill someone on the song. They just want that from me because I've had that type of energy in my actual experience and they feel like it's special or authentic in some way when I offer that."

Tht Real Freeway Rick Ross Might Stop Rappers Album

The real Rick Ross, drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross, recently talked about his legal battle against rapper Rick Ross for using his name without permission, saying he might try to block the release of his upcoming "Teflon Don" album. "If William Roberts attempts to use the 'Rick Ross' name that he spent years earning and spending time in prison to uphold, he will be met with an injunction," a representative for Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. "Simple as that. This is not a publicity stunt, a game or a hoax, to sell some Rick Ross albums, as some have suggested. In fact, [Freeway] Rick Ross intends to halt the release of any Summer 2010 'Rick Ross' album."
