Prodigy Talks Lil Wayne And T.I.'s Sentencing Time, Hip Hop Task Force


Mobb Deep's Prodigy explains why he got more time than Lil Wayne and T.I. and how police allegedly tried to get him to plant evidence in 50 Cent's car.

Mobb Deep’s Prodigy has been on an epic press junket since finishing up his three-and-a-half-year prison sentence. In addition to returnng to the studio with Nas, Alchemist, Curren$y and others, P has been promoting his book, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy. While discussing his bio with Maya The B of ThisIs50 Radio, P explained why he essentially served three times as much time behind bars as T.I. and Lil Wayne did for similar weapon possession charges.

“The way I see it, those dudes criminal history is way different than mine,” Prodigy explained. “As far as
T.I.’s case is concerned, everybody looked at that kind of crazy—like what’s going on over there? Everybody’s criminal history is different. If you look at my rap sheet, it’s very long. I’ve got a lot of crazy stuff on there from when I was young; assault charges, gun charges, robbery, attempted robbery…a lot of stuff.”

Capone Calls Out Prodigy Following Snitching Allegations


After being called a snitch in Prodigy's new book, Capone responds to Prodigy's allegations in a video with Forbez DVD.

Queens rapper Capone had a few choice words for fellow rapper Prodigy after being called out as a snitch in Prodigy’s new book titled “My Infamous Life.”

In a video exclusive with Forbez DVD Capone addressed the snitch allegations and alludes to there being much more in store for Prodigy.

“I’m talkin’ to you Pussy P…You talkin’ about nigga’s crowns is so soft my nigga. Fuck is wrong with you? Look where I’m at. What you want me to do, walk around this bitch? I ain’t got to prove to you I’m from QB or [that] my nigga’s hold me down in my hood nigga,” Capone explained in the video. “Let me tell you something man, niggas don’t rat on my side my nigga…We got a lot of things in store for you. This is just the beginning, act one.”

According to Prodigy, Capone once testified in court against Havoc’s brother Killer Black. He referred back to the incident in an excerpt in “My Infamous Life” and spoke briefly about Capone in a recent interview with Complex magazine.

Rick Ross, Ace Hood, Travis Porter To Perform At BMI Unsigned Urban Showcase


DJ Drama and Lil Duval will host the 14th annual event in Atlanta.

On May 18, at Atlanta, Georgia's Buckhead Theatre, the 14th annual BMI Unsigned Urban Showcase will take place. Hosted by Grand Hustle Records' DJ Drama and Lil Duval, the event is designed to provide information and entertainment to BMI members, looking to break further into the urban music industry.

Performers for the event were announced this morning, and will include Def Jam Records star Rick Ross, as well as DJ Khaled protege Ace Hood. Additionally, Jive Records sensations Travis Porter as well as Sean Garrett will also hit the stage.

Flavor Flav's Iowa Fried Chicken Restaurant To Close After Three Months


Having just opened earlier this year, Flavor Flav's Clinton, Iowa restaurant "Flavor Flav's Chicken" is set to close. The Public Enemy rapper and hype-man-turned-reality television told TMZ.com that he is withdrawing from the franchise location due to allegations of poor management from his business partner, Nick Cimino.

After there was a reported payroll issue in the company's first two months, Flav told TMZ, "I went up inside there on April 2 and I found potato salad that expired on February 28. And it's then when I realized I can't do business with this man and I really hope no one ate those potatoes."

Flav is planning to open another location in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Kid Cudi Announces New Album And Record Label Name


Last week, during a live performance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Kid Cudi formally announced the name of his new label, Wicked Awesome Records. He’ll be partnering with Dot Da Genius as well has his band, which he has renamed 2 Be Continuum.

“It’s no longer called Wizard,” Cudi explained to a packed crowd. “Pulling it up on iTunes and there was like five bands called Wizard. So we had to be more original and do something different…but it’s still wizardry at it’s finest.”

The Fugees Are Definitely Going To Get Back Together


Fugees producer Jerry Wonda has shed light on the group's separation in recent years and why fans should still expect to see Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras all reunite once again.

"I believe there will be a day when the Fugees get together, but everyone in the group's gotta be ready," he told Rap-Up.com. "The Fugees are definitely going toget back together. The time will come. You've gotta wait, man...I could tell you that the old days were lovely, and if I could go back again, I definitely would. But it's a whole new era for me right now." (Rap-Up)

Jim Jones On Pace To Sell Under 20,000


Dipset's own Jim Jones new "Capo" album is reportedly on pace to sell around 18,000 copies in it's first week in stores. Based on one-day estimates, Jim Jones latest album will stay under 20,000 copies sold. E1 rapper Jim Jones makes his label debut with Capo, which should do 15-18k, while veteran '80s Minneapolis R&B group (and Prince contemporaries) Mint Condition, also on the former Koch label, will debut with between 12-15k on their album, 7... Jay-Z's Roc Nation Arist Arrested On Murder Charge


Jay-Z's new Roc Nation artist K Koke was reportedly being held and facing an attempted murder charge, dating back to an early March shooting. Details of the situation hit the net early today.
Kevin Georgiou, known as 'K Koke', has been remanded in custody accused of shooting a man in the back at Harlesden train station on March 9. The 25-year-old, who signed to the US music mogul's record label Roc Nation in January, was arrested after officers from British Transport Police (BTP) raided his home last week. He was subsequently charged and remanded in custody after appearing before City of Westminster Magistrates' Court last Saturday. Georgiou will make his next appearance at Blackfriars Crown Court on June 15. He is the fifth person to be charged in connection with the shooting of the 27-year-old.

Styles P Talks About His New Juice Bar


Long-time LOX member Styles P recently spoke about his new juice bar located in New York City and the impact drinking veggies and fruits has had on his lifestyle. Located in the Bronx, Styles P credits his Juices For Life bar for helping him lose weight. Juices for Life on Castle Hill Ave in Castle Hill is serving fresh fruit and vegetable drinks to locals sick of fast food and liquor, while building a community of health-conscious customers. Owned by Yonkers rapper Styles P and Trinidadian and Tobagan-born juice mixologist Nigel Rollocks, Juices for Life opened three weeks ago. David Styles, 36 - known by the stage name Styles P - was drawn to the business after making fruit blends part of his own diet. He started "juicing" about 10 years ago at a Harlem health bar run by the Rollocks family. "I was pretty chunky," Styles said. "I was on the road living the fast life. I wasn't paying attention to my health." Since then, the Ruff Ryders rapper has lost 60 pounds. He and Rollocks hope to spread their fruit and vegetable gospel throughout the Bronx. The bar also serves juice made from bark and ginseng - with sexual powers, according to Styles.

Wiz Khalifa Talks Having Few Guest Appearances


Rapper Wiz Khalifa recently spoke about his choice to release his debut "Rolling Papers" album without many guest features as he first planned. Wiz says he thinks it helps to keep the attention and album's focus on him. "I trimmed it down and I just kept it regular because I wanted to save that suspense of me working with these other artists and making these huge records," Wiz said. "I wanted to save that. I figured with my first album I could accomplish establishing my own identity and that's what I really wanted to do with this music and when that happens, I can do all that other stuff." (MTV)

Game Talks Dark Angle Of New Red Nation Video


West Coast's own The Game recently spoke about taking a dark approach towards his new "Red Nation" music video by applying an apocalyptic theme to the new single. Game spoke about what fans can expect in the new music video. "We shot this real rebel scene. I was over there in a bunch of dirt with rocks, and behind the gate were a bunch of guys I couldn't see, looking all menacing and scary and [with] bats and sticks and poles," Game told MTV News on the set. "And that was kinda crazy, man. I was in sort of like an army fatigue thing, doing my thing. But it was fun, man, the first shot -- had a lot of fun, got real sweaty 'cause I was jumping around, man. A lotta dust and smoke -- it was crazy, man." (MTV)
